I guess LMFAO really is sorry for party rocking, as today the music group announced their disbandment. No more beings.exy and knowing it, and no more party rock in the house. Member Redfoo broke the news today that the group has decided to indefinitely call it quitz.
“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years,” the 37-year-old son of Motown founder Berry Gordy revealed. The other half of LMFAO, 26-year-old SkyBlu is Redfoo’s nephew, but apparently the family ties aren’t keeping them from going off in “different directions.”
“I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” Redfoo revealed. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”
“We’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,” he said of the decision to split. The pair released their debut album, Party Rock, in 2009, but it was their 2011 follow up album, Sorry for Party Rocking that was the real hit.
Don’t let this news discourage you, however. Redfoo said he has some solo music in store, which is said to be LMFAO-ish. Redfoo also said he plans to launch his own tennis line of clothing.
