Late last night a small file was uploaded to The Pirate Bay, its contents containing thousands of logins to the private BitTorrent Tracker RevolutionTT, or RevTT for short. This data breach was not expected. The attackers behind this data breach call themselves the Afghanistan Hackers and leaked the username and password combinations on The Pirate Bay. The file is just 675kb small.
“From Civilized Afghan Society, of course we do have stupid Talibans also but we do have very well educated people living in beautiful Kabul City,” a text file with the release reads.
“RevTT is hacked by Afghanistan Hackers !!!”
The file contains roughly 50,000 user/pass combinations, however there are many duplicates listed so the exact amount of logins leaked is unknown. Users downloaded the file and then used these logins to access regular accounts and also VIPs of the website who have access to exclusive sections of the BitTorrent tracker website.
Site staff of the BitTorrent tracker denied being hacked and removed all discussion of the breach, and even banned accounts posting in the threads about the hack.
