Architecture firm Gensler released a conceptual proposal for a floating airport in London. The airport named “Britannia” would be built in Thames Estuary connected by underwater tunnels from the ground to the airport. The airport would have a total cost of $80,000 millions dollars and would have 4 landing runways of 5 kilometers each, people would use one of the 3 land terminals to travel from land via high velocity trains to the airport.

The proposal also plans to transform the current Heathrow airport into an “eco city” to provide home for 300,000 people.

It’s important to remark that this project is just a concept and it haven’t been approved by the London City.

Similar projects like these have been proposed in United States and Japan but due to the high cost the projects have been rejected. What do you think of this idea?
