It’s been a busy year for Microsoft while they finish up Windows 8 and unleash their Surface tablet to the work. We’ve known that Windows 8 will ship on October 26th, but had no date for their new tablet, Surface, when they announced it in late June.
Supersite for Windows reported that Microsoft confirmed that the Surface will start shipping on October 26th, the same date as Windows 8.
Microsoft filing with the US Security and Exchange quietly revealed that the tablet will start shipping to customers on October 26th. According to Supersite, the filing reads:
“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012… At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”
The Intel-based Surface Pro will take longer to launch, so the October 26th launch date corresponds to the availability of the ARM-powered Surface tablet. Now we just need to know the price of the tablet!
