It looks like the United Kingdom isn’t the only one suffering a block. The Pirate Bay and other large BitTorrent sites are now being blocked by Internet providers in India. When visiting, the banner shown above is placed instead of the website’s actual content, informing it was the Department of Telecommunications ordering the blockage. It appears torrent websites such as TPB and BitSnoop aren’t the only ones though, as Vimeo is blocked too. It’s odd though. Sure, Vimeo does host some infringing videos, but it’s not the purpose of the site and if anything YouTube hosts much more infringing content. The exact reason is unknown, but it’ll be interesting to see if any other websites like Vimeo end up being blocked in the future. [TorrentFreak]
